Who is responsible

Find An Electrician operates Find an Electrician and is responsible for its directory and request records. Contact us at admin@findanelectrician.directory or through our contact form.

What we collect and why

Listings contain business names, public business addresses, phone numbers, websites, services, coverage and logos. Initial information comes from the business websites linked on each profile. Some business details may identify a sole trader or include a home address. We use this information to help visitors find and compare electricians, relying on our legitimate interest in running an accurate business directory. You can object or ask us to remove information.

When you contact us, suggest a correction or request removal, we save your name, email, message, the affected listing and request dates. For claims, we also save your signed-in account identifier, role, proposed changes, uploaded logo and the outcome of our ownership review. We use these records to handle your request, prevent unauthorised changes and maintain accurate listings, relying on our legitimate interests in administering the directory securely. We do not use claim requests as marketing consent.

Who can see it

Approved business details and approved logos appear on public profiles. Contact emails submitted in forms, messages, account identifiers, pending logos and review notes are accessible only to the directory operator and relevant hosting providers. Signed-in claimants can view their own request status and the reviewer’s response. We use Shock Hosting for website hosting, database storage and uploaded files. Administrator and owner access use separate secure session cookies. Resend sends sign-in links and service notifications. Sign-in links expire after 15 minutes; owner sessions expire after seven days. When email notifications are enabled, Resend processes recipient email addresses and service-notification content to deliver request acknowledgements and decisions. Claim notifications use the email supplied by your signed-in account; the separate contact email remains available to the directory team. Providers may process information outside the UK; their applicable data-processing terms and transfer safeguards govern that processing.

Retention

Email notification records, including recipient addresses and message content, are retained for up to 90 days for delivery and troubleshooting. Resend also processes delivery records under its applicable provider terms.

We keep current business listings while they remain relevant, subject to correction, objection and removal requests. Closed request records and associated unused uploads are deleted after 12 months through routine maintenance. Open requests remain until resolved. Minimal listing identifiers and removal status are retained to prevent removed listings from being republished. Approved business data and the current logo remain until replaced or removed.

Your choices and rights

You may ask for access, correction, deletion or restriction of your personal information, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Other rights may apply depending on the processing. Use the contact form or removal form; a claim is not required. We may need proportionate information to confirm your identity before releasing personal records. You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Cookies and sign-in

We load Google Analytics automatically to understand visits to our public directory pages and clicks on business phone and website buttons. Google receives page paths, broad device and location information, referral websites and cookie identifiers. We do not send form contents, email addresses, sign-in tokens or account identifiers to Analytics. Analytics is not loaded on sign-in, owner dashboard or administration pages. Google may process data outside the UK under its applicable data-processing terms and transfer safeguards. We do not enable advertising personalisation. Analytics cookies last up to 13 months, and event-level data is retained in Analytics for two months. Essential cookies support security and sign-in. Claims require email sign-in and ownership review. Browsing and correction or removal requests do not require a directory account.

Optional information and decisions

Submitting a request is voluntary. We need enough contact and request information to respond; without it, we may be unable to process the request. We do not make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. Claims and corrections are reviewed by a person before publication.
